In the casual life about campus each person is on his own and for himself. In the Pi Lam House each person is for everyone else and the Chapter as a whole. A spirit of mutual service and friendship prevails. The good thing about life is that we get infinitely more for ourselves when we work together with others to achieve success. The difference between simply getting by and getting the most out of life is like shooting a basketball alone in your driveway and playing with a team in an organized game.
It is the purpose of Pi Lambda Chi to give you something that will help you to get all you are capable of from your collegiate experience; to help you to find your place in the college community and grow into a position of importance in it; to encourage you to undertake activities and work which will increase what possibilities your future will hold; to give you the benefit of the experience of upperclassmen and alumni to whom your future is a genuine concern; to furnish an environment which will promote your objectives and stimulate your finest growth.
It is the purpose of Pi Lambda Chi to furnish you with a home where you may be your own natural self, unashamed of your finest and most generous impulses; where you may count on sympathy and understanding when you make mistakes; and where you will be spurred on to greater effort by wholehearted sharing during your success.
It is the purpose of Pi Lambda Chi to allow members to participate in what has been called "the best demonstration of democratic living to be found of the college campus," where men learn how to live together, with the give and take of conflicting interests and varying temperaments; where men learn to yield personal wish or advantage to the greater good of the group, to fortify another's weakness with their own strength, to give of their abundance to a Brother's need; where they discover that we are all are indeed our Brother's keeper and have a real responsibility for what our Brothers do, just as we are under deep obligation to do nothing which will injure the group or make life more difficult for any man, for that is the meaning of Fraternity.
It is the purpose of Pi Lambda Chi to offer its members true and lasting friendship. Life without friendships is unthinkable. A real art is involved in creating honest relationships that can be maintained throughout your life; this art you will learn should you become a Brother.
